Kelowna is nestled on Okanagan Lake between the Rocky Mountains to the east, Coastal Mountains to the west and Cascade Mountains to the south. It is a perfect place to learn English.

Facts to Know:

  • Kelowna is a quick 60 minute flight from Calgary or Vancouver and just 70 minutes from Seattle, USA.
  • The Government of British Columbia announced funding for a new five-lane bridge that will be built to replace Kelowna’s floating bridge. Construction will be completed by 2007 with no anticipated interruption to traffic flow.
  • Kelowna General Hospital is the largest and most comprehensive in the southern interior of BC
  • Okanagan Lake is 110 kms (68 miles) long.
  • Kelowna is 101.2 square miles and is 1,129 feet above sea level.

The Okanagan is characterized by cool humid air and cloudy skies in winter, and by dry air with bright skies in summer.

Kelowna is surrounded by orchards and vineyards. Pick ripe fruit from trees, or spend a delightful day sampling the award winning wares of our internationally acclaimed wineries. There are 12 wineries in and around the city and some 65 throughout the Okanagan Valley.

Kelowna is easily accessible and caters to visitors from around the world. The Kelowna International Airport connects visitors and residents to many major North American cities.

Orchard Park Shopping Centre is Kelowna’s landmark and is the largest regional retail centre between Vancouver and Calgary with over 150 stores and services in a modern 673,000 square foot shopping centre. (www.orchardparkshopping.com).

Orchard Plaza is home to over 100 stores, including a Famous Players Movie Theatre with five screens to choose your favourite of the latest Hollywood features.
