PurposeAt FOCUS we are committed to: providing a safe and comfortable learning environment, Background/Profile FOCUS was registered as a private post secondary education institute in 1992. Over the past 11 years, we have experienced many changes. While the original programming was Career Exploration/Implementation under contract with Human Resources Development Canada, we commenced the transition to a fee for service basis in 1996 and are now on an entirely fee for service basis, offering training to individuals, groups and organizations. We have had many opportunities to work with individuals from 19-65 years of age, of various backgrounds, cultures and learning styles. This has enabled us to learn and grow along with our students. Our philosophy is that we all learn better in a comfortable, upbeat environment where being positive and using humor encourages participation, learning and intelligent risk-taking. Our classes are small in size, which enables us to give each individual the required attention and allows students to progress at their own pace. We utilize various instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles and adult learning. On June 19, 2000, FOCUS TRAINING INSTITUTE LTD. obtained their accreditation from the Private Post Secondary Education Commission of British Columbia. Through accreditation, our Institute was evaluated and recognized for our standards of integrity and educational competence. FOCUS recognizes that adults already have a number of transferable skills and FOCUS specializes in short term training programs, enabling students to return to the workforce sooner. Programs can be taken as full certificate programs with some offering components only to suit individual needs. Our staff is always ready to answer any enquiries to assist students to enroll in appropriate programs or courses. Ongoing registration ensures no waiting lists. Prior to acceptance into a program, students are required to have a personal interview with the Admissions Officer. We will continue to grow and develop appropriate, targeted job training, always responsive to the labor market, as well as our student's needs and requirement.
