LEVEL 2

DESCRIPTION:

This course teaches students how to begin with a company file and enter transactions for general ledger, accounts receivables, accounts payable, inventory, and managing capital expenses. This course will review some accounting fundamentals as they relate to the transaction at hand only.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Students will learn to:

  • set up a new company using the Setup Wizard
  • set up the Chart of Accounts and enter database details into the ledgers
  • enter historical data into all ledgers (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory and 'Payroll),
  • enter a variety of transactions into the General Journal,
  • set up banking and credit card processing
  • set up user security in Simply Accounting
  • set up Budgeting, handling Project/Department Accounting
  • manage Inventory: counts, write-offs, item-assembly, bill of materials
  • advanced payroll features: tax tables, types of Income and Deductions, payroll remittance, batch printing of paycheques, remitting payroll deductions/contributions, employee departures, generating T4 slips
  • work with foreign currency
  • handle deductions, NSF cheques and bad debts,
  • remit deductions and taxes,

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

  • Simply Accounting by Sage - $40.00

EVALUATION:

  • Reviews, quizzes, 70%
  • Demonstrate to Instructor that concepts are understood.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mature student

  • Introduction to Windows or equivalent Microsoft Windows knowledge and experience.
  • Basic Accounting/Bookkeeping knowledge
  • Simply Accounting Level 1
