This course introduces students to the basics of Windows XP Operating System

HOURS OF INSTRUCTION/TUITION

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Students will learn to:

  • identify elements of a personal computer
  • understand the system unit or box, input/output devices and storage systems
  • describe the different boot routines
  • recognize the main types of application programs
  • identify the various parts of a typical Windows XP screen
  • run programs with the Start button
  • customize Windows XP features
  • access the Help function
  • move and resize a program window
  • use various Windows XP programs
  • perform multi-tasking features
  • use the Clipboard function
  • use the Windows XP Explorer effectively for managing files
  • empty the Recycle Bin
  • use the Control Panel
  • work with the Accessories
  • log-off/shut down Windows XP properly

  • Exam 70%
